Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, held a groundbreaking and signed the inscription for the revitalization of the former Johar Teater land on Jalan Kramat Jaya Baru IV, RT 15/10, Johar Baru Urban Village, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/17).

This land is a local government asset that will be completed with various facilities

As planned, the land arrangement as wide as 982 square meters will be transformed into a green open space (RTH) and is targeted for completion in December 2024.

According to him, various facilities would be prepared such as sports facilities, education, children's playgrounds, urban farming, and worship. Aside that, the green open space called Johar Baru Taman Bersama would be completed with a blue area as a water absorption area.

Even, many other locations in Jakarta have been transformed into green open spaces. Besides providing additional facilities for residents, the arrangement of abandoned land into green open space also plays a big role in greening.

"To the police chief and sub-district head, I entrust this land to the children's playground area. Please, together with the residents, look after it and supervise it," he explained.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma explained it would be equipped with multi-function sports field facilities, embung or artificial lakes, urban farming, prayer rooms, gazebos, and parks.

Specifically the prayer room building, it was planned to be two stories high, with the upper part being used for worship and the lower part as a community meeting hall.

To guard against misuse, the park would have a CCTV where it would involve local RT/RW administrators and local police.

"All parties will be involved in monitoring and working together to ensure that the park's existence is not exploited for negative things," he explained.

Thus far, the work on green open spaces continues to be intensified by Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency, SDA Agency, Bina Marga Agency, Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency (KPKP), as well as Youth and Sports Agency, Central Jakarta Baznas Bazis, and Johar Baru Sub-district.
